Local Attractions

As well as being the gateway to the NC500, the Black Isle is a beautiful area with plenty to do. Great walking, dolphins and other wildlife trips, beaches are all to be found and the infamous Loch Ness only a short drive away.

The Forestry Commission trails at Ord Hill are a very short distance from the Caravan site – offering great walks with views over the Moray Firth to Inverness.

Take a trip on either of our purpose built passenger boats to visit the dolphins in the Moray Firth. Spirit holds 65 passengers comfortably and goes in search of our resident pods of dolphins, seals, porpoise and otters.

Chanonry Point for Dolphins

The most popular place to see dolphins is probably a good indicator of the best place to see them! That’s Chanonry Point between Fortrose and Rosemarkie on the Black Isle. This narrow peninsula is an ideal location with views across the Moray Firth to Fort George and with lots of fellow dolphin watchers you are unlikely to miss any sightings.

Rosemarkie Beach

Located on the scenic peninsula known as the Black Isle this long stretch of sandy beach stretches out into the mouth of the Moray Firth. The beach is backed by woodland and well kept lawns. It is also home to the ever popular Rosemarkie Beach Cafe making this a great spot to relax.

Fairy Glen

An easy walk up a delightful wooded glen, with two attractive waterfalls. The Fairy Glen was once the scene of a well-dressing ceremony, where the children of the village decorated a pool, next to a spring, with flowers. This was said to ensure that the fairies kept the water supply clean.

Ord Hill

Ord Hill is a great place for wildlife. Look out for red squirrels and woodland birds in the trees here. You might even spot a bottlenose dolphin in the Moray Firth below!

Mountain Biking Routes at Learnie Red Rock Trails

Mix forest tracks and dedicated trails for a great day of mountain biking. These purpose built mountain bike trails are fantastic fun for all levels, but especially good for novice and intermediate riders.

Rogie Falls

Short walks rewarded with spectacular waterfall views. Get up close to these impressive waterfalls on a new suspension bridge across the beautiful Black Water river. It’s only a short walk from the car park and during August and September there’s an excellent chance of seeing wild salmon leaping upstream.

Torrachilty Glen Affric

Huge forest, mostly spruce & pine but with some native broadleaves which make for interesting colour in autumn. Thought to be home to wildcats, otters & pine martens – so look carefully and you may see something special.
